David Onri Anderson and Ann Catherine Carter present new paintings in Conscious Camouflage, a pop up show at Track One opening on April 04 during the first Saturday Art Crawl from 6-10pm. On view at Track One from Saturday, April 04 - May 03, 2015. In Conscious Camouflage, both artists use patterning, forms, and color in combinations either to enhance or break from concealment. David Anderson observes organic and manufactured textiles to bring together what he considers the “inner” and “outer” net, and how this relates to painting's primal nature in a virtual and technological world. Ann Catherine Carter uses commercial logos, fabric patterns found while browsing the web on Amazon, and multiple forms of mark making to confuse consumer products, advertisements, and the way in which the hand inevitably reveals itself in both physical and digital ways. Both embark on an internet-safari-like investigation through art history and the distorted chronology of the Internet playfully and sympathetically, hoping to find visual poetry while thinking of the multiple ways in which painting can exist today.
